 | Ilgin Yorukoglu Doctoral Candidate The Graduate Center, CUNY Seminar Ilgin Yorukoglu is a doctoral candidate in sociology at the Graduate Center, CUNY. Her dissertation, focusing on the everyday lives of queer women of Turkish background in Berlin, examines the everyday understandings of belonging and citizenship in 'western' societies. She received her M.A. in Cultural Studies with a thesis on the recent transformation of the hegemonic representation of contemporary history in the Turkish part of Cyprus, and she has been teaching urban sociology as well as sexuality. |
