![]() | Alice Kaplan Gilbert, Louis, and Edward Lehrman Professor of Romance Studies Duke University Seminar Alice Kaplan is the Gilbert, Louis and Edward Lehrman Professor of Romance Studies and a Professor of History and Literature at Duke University. Kaplan has published five books, including The Interpreter, French Lessons: A Memoir, and The Collaborator: The Trial and Execution of Robert Brasillach, which was awarded the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in History. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including The American Scholar and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Her primary research concentrations are French post-war memory, autobiography, and the cultural history of translation. Kaplan is the founding Director of the Center for French and Francophone Studies at Duke. |
